Garlic spread

Garlic is well-known for it’s antibacterial effects, some call it ‘Russian Penicillin’. One of my favorite ways to get more garlic into my diet is by making a spread. It is fairly simple and very tasty. The garlic is cooked, so it will not linger on the breath as badly as raw.

Recipe:

-1 or 2 heads of garlic

-1 tbsp butter

Put garlic heads in the oven. Bake for approximately 20 minutes (you can peel the garlic, or if you’re lazy feel free to just stick in the oven unpeeled. I recommend peeling, it makes the next step easier). After pulling out of the oven, mash garlic with a fork and mix in the butter while it is still hot. Spread on sourdough bread (or bread of your choice).

If you want, you can add mayo or sour cream with salt & chives to make a veggie dip.
